My home studio is equipped with top of the range instruments for you to enjoy playing.

I use a professional level Bernstein grand piano for advanced students. This is a level higher than the 3 teacher level grand pianos and has one prizes at international piano craftsmanship competitions. Many of my students have commented on the clarity and sweetness of the high notes and the rich, resonant bass. This, coupled with the responsive touch, allows the development of more advanced techniques and gives a greater palette of sound.

For beginners to intermediate I use and upright Kawai piano. Again, with its taller body, it produces a rich sound, with many gradations of tone colour and volume. It is responsive to the touch, with enough resistance to develop young fingers. It is a joy to play.

Finally, I use a digital Orla baby grand piano which has a natural wooden sounding board for better sound quality. It has a touch response that matches that of acoustic pianos and uses sampled sounds for many of its instrumental effects. Sampled sounds give a more natural sound than sounds that are purely electronically generated. Students have the opportunity to experiment with many different, authentic sounding instrumental colours, while still developing a good technique. Some of the over 300 instrumental sounds that are available are various types of guitar, pipe and electronic organ, many world instruments, woodwind and brass.

All acoustic pianos are regularly tuned to concert pitch.
